How do you know how to choose the right tanning and nail salon?  Keep reading and we can help you ask the right questions.  

Things to know when choosing a good nail salon

Q.  Is there a strong odor when enter the salon?

A.  If so, they may be using dental acrylic.  Dental acrylic has a strong odor and contains a cancer causing agent called MMA in the liquid.  This is illegal in Wisconsin however, many salons do use it.  Many of these workers wear a mask to protect themselves from inhalation.  The biggest danger comes from the chemical soaking through the nail plate when applying arcylic product to the client. 

Q. Are the nailtechnicians licensed in the State of Wisconsin?

A.  Don't be afraid to ask.  Any person who has a valid license is proud to show you and complimented that you asked.

Q. Is the salon clean?

A.  This will give you a good indication of the level of professionalism.

Q. Does the salon willinglly do all types of nails?

A.  A good salon will use the product that is the best for your natural nail so as not to do any damage to the natural nail.  They will never use just one product for everyone.

Q.  Does the salon offer a consultation prior to doing a service?

A.  You need to be able to talk about and assess your nails to make sure you are wearing the right product for you.

Q.  Is the staff friendly and knowledgable?

A.  Make sure they know what products they use and ask how long they have been using them.

Things to know when choosing a tanning salon

Q. Is the salon clean?

A.  You never want to lay in a dirty tanning bed.  You may contract a skin fungus from being exposed to a dirty acrylic.  The serrounding salon enviroment should be clean and neat to represent thier level of professionalism.

Q. What kind of tanning beds do they have?

A.  A salon should offer a variety of tanning beds to suit your needs.  Some tanning lamps tan different types of skin differently.

Q Is the staff friendly and knowledgable?

A.  Do they know how skin tans and how to advise you how to get the best tan for your skin and your needs.

Q  Has the salon taken any education classes?

A.  This question shows that the salon cares about the customers that they serve.

Q.  Is the salon willing to listen to tanning concerns that may arise and help you resolve them?

A.  A salon that works with each customers needs will give you the results your looking for and insure your loyalty.

Q.  Are cleaning supplies in view of the client?

A.  A good salon will clean the tanning room for you and supply cleaning solution in each room.  This way if you feel the need to resanitize your equipment prior to use, you have that choice.
